Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina Announces Winners of 2024 Scrub Island Billfish Series

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (Oct. 17, 2024) – Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina recently concluded the annual Scrub Island Billfish Series (Sept. 13-21) produced by The Marlin Group. The 2024 tournament welcomed 13 teams and 98 anglers, and awarded a total cash purse of $345,700. The fleet released 59 blue marlin and seven sailfish during the first leg, followed by an even more impressive second leg with 73 blue marlin and two sailfish releases. During the six full days of tournament fishing, a total of 132 blue marlin and nine sailfish were released. This year’s winners are as follows:

Leg I              

First Place: Doña Lucy / San Juan, Puerto Rico (Capt. Efrain Rodriguez)

Second Place: Showtime! / Stuart, Florida (Capt. Jon Meade)

Third Place: Ohana / Jacksonville, Florida (Capt. Luke Hickey)

 

Leg II

Second Place: Juben / Charleston, South Carolina (Capt. Jay Weaver)

Third Place: Marlin Darlin / Clearwater, Florida (Capt. Shay Danzig)

The 2025 Scrub Island Billfish Series is set for Sept. 4-8, 2025 (Leg I) and Sept. 8-12, 2025 (Leg II).
