Candice Bryan’s journey in hospitality is a story of passion, dedication, and a commitment to creating unforgettable guest experiences. Born and raised in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, Candice grew up in a family devoted to caregiving and service. With her mother working as a geriatric aide, her grandmother as a caretaker, and her sister pursuing nursing, it’s no surprise Candice inherited a natural inclination for helping others.
This foundation led her to pursue a career that allows her to connect with people from all over the world. But Candice’s talents extend beyond hospitality—she is also a recording artist, composer, and author, using her creativity to share her journey and forge meaningful connections.
The Start of a Remarkable Journey
After graduating from community college, Candice enrolled in Saira Hospitality, a program that partners with resorts like Scrub Island to provide locals with the skills needed for careers in hospitality. As an ambassador of the program, Candice’s dedication and potential stood out, leading to her first role at Scrub Island Resort in December 2018 as a Resort Host.
From the start, she drew inspiration from her mentor, Dornelle Hazel, who encouraged her to think beyond her daily tasks and consider the resort’s larger operations. This perspective sparked a passion for creating seamless guest journeys, setting the foundation for her rapid career growth.
Climbing the Ranks
Through hard work and a focus on excellence, Candice quickly rose through the ranks. In 2019, she was promoted to Resort Host Supervisor, and by 2021, she had become Assistant Front Office Manager. In November 2023, she stepped into her current role as Front Office Manager, overseeing critical operations, including the Front Desk, Concierge, Night Audit, and Marina Hosts.
Candice also credits her success to participating in Mainsail Lodging & Development’s Manager Development Program, where she graduated as Salutatorian. This program gave her the tools to adapt to the ever-evolving hospitality landscape, especially in the wake of post-pandemic changes.
Paradise by Design: A Perfect Fit
Scrub Island Resort, known as “Paradise by Design,” offers a world of luxury with its pristine beaches, fine dining, water sports, and private charters. Guests are treated to exceptional service, including dedicated butlers in the resort’s stunning villas.
As Front Office Manager, Candice ensures every aspect of a guest’s stay, from pre-arrival to post-departure, is seamless and memorable. Meeting visitors from across the globe enriches her understanding of different cultures and traditions, fueling her passion for hospitality.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Candice aspires to grow into leadership roles such as General Manager or Director of Operations, where she can continue shaping guest experiences while introducing innovative technologies to the British Virgin Islands. She’s particularly excited about integrating AI into hospitality to elevate service standards.
Beyond her personal goals, Candice dreams of opening a hospitality school in the BVI. Her vision is to inspire the next generation to embrace the “hospitality gene” equipping them with the skills and passion to thrive in this rewarding industry.
